It's that time of year again, when fashionistas congregate in subzero temperatures to revel in the forecasted trends prancing down the runway. Except this season will be the last one at the Lincoln Center, which has been home to Mercedes Benz Fashion Week for eight years now post Bryant Park and the birthplace of the actual 'tents'. So this year will carry a bit of nostalgia in addition to the usual craze that accompanies Fashion Week.
Each season, I typically make my rounds to the showrooms to pull the latest styles and Winter wear, which is uncommonly found in Los Angeles this time of year. This season, especially due to the imperfect weather conditions in New York at the moment, I have decided to be a bit more practical and inspired with my style for the events and shows. This is something I have been in practice of more frequently as of recent, pulling inspiration from my outside sources of music, books, etc. Just as a writer pulls from their environment, I draw from mine based on the movies I am watching and street style I admire while I am reading at cafes in between meetings. I often include my inspiration songs into my posts. Typically they are what I am listening to when I am writing or I draw vision and influence into my style and words.
For my style inspiration, I am sticking to what I know best...the basics. Classic is most functional when it comes to style especially when combined with inclement weather. Black, white and grey may sound drab for a wardrobe, but I plan on elating my outfits with bold accessories and statement pairings of form and function while sludging my way between uptown and downtown. With my smartwater in my my purse and a good book, I am good to go!
