Day with A Designer- Jules Los Angeles

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Jules Feng, designer of Jules Los Angeles.  Tucked away in the affluent ocean side city of Manhattan Beach, lies the designers home studio, equip with a view of the Pacific Ocean.

Jules, a wife and mother of two, showed me first hand what it looks like to balance both worlds successfully.  In the midst of customer drop-in’s, style pulls cupcake making and language tutors, Jules and her brand are on a journey of quite the organically driven success. Experiencing a boost after being showcased alongside Halston Heritage at a charity gala in Beverly Hills, Jules’s self-taught business savvy has lent greatly towards her growing brand.

Not having quite the traditional background in the fashion industry, she has always had an eye for style. While unintentionally assisting local boutiques in styling and merchandising in the South Bay based on her own personal sense of style, Jules discovered her capacity to design for women like her.

Jules learned about the fashion industry through own efforts of handling first-hand the manufacturing process, pattern making and wholesale aspects, most of which duties are typically outsourced. She acknowledges having a better understanding of the ins and outs of how a garment hangs and the different in fabric cutting and type and applies them into her collection to achieve an outcome of a higher quality garment.

Drawing inspiration from those around her, each garment in her collection is named after an influential character that has played an important role in her life thus far.  Jules also includes a personal message on her car labels on each piece, conveying the message of beauty and worth.

Recently picked up to be retailed by the Four Seasons in Hawaii, Jules expects to expand the brand into boutiques and online in the near future and continue to allow the brand to grow into success organically, as it should!
